Founder - Hammock Dave

Hammock Dave was born of an idea while laying in a hammock hung from the mast of a sailboat. Yes, Dave is a person but Hammock Dave is more of an idea.

Living a life worth living

A little about the 'Dave' behind the name...

Born in California, raised in Washington and slightly traveled otherwise. After graduating High School, he took a few years figuring out what the heck to do with his life. A little late to the game, he joined the Army on a whim. Four years, two deployments and some Airborne wings later he decided to open a restaurant. 'Dave's Burger Joint'...

Feeling a little winded from the food service industry, he sold the place to a couple that ran with the idea. Onwards to the sailboat he went. Planning his next move, most of his evenings were spent roaming around the Puget Sound in a 24' sailboat. Insert periods of time sitting on the dock, watching the sunset in the hammock. While climbing trees for income an opportunity came up to use his GI Bill for a Commercial Pilot License. Giving up the easy life for a chance to fly some planes was an easy choice.

Two years later after finishing the final check ride, he decided to spend a few more months on the sailboat before selling everything and moving to Southern California. Realizing that a job in the aviation industry might encroach on the idea of flying for fun, something just wasn't lighting the spark. He had to do something really cool. After a few years in the web development industry, he moved back to Washington State. Still in the web industry, Dave decided to start a little side-hustle. Hammocks alone wouldn't be the ticket so he bought a CNC machine to start making stuff. Something to ignite the spark.

With a pending trademark (as of Dec 2020), some wheels are starting to move. With an initial order of Hammocks and building up a stock of original 'Hammock Dave' branded products here we are. What's in store for the future? Not even Dave knows. Either way, it should be an adventure worth writing about one day.

We hope to share the excitement as we rise from the ashes of 2020.
